The weekend began with a ring at the door & the arrival of some of our wedding gifts. We then proceeded to rip open the box and the packaging within as though it were Christmas morning. The taste of a frothy, strong latte was all the more fantastic for it being made in our own kitchen. Later we were to purchase a bottle of bubbly just so we could toast the day in our new champagne saucers (something I’ve wanted since I was a child watching Ms Monroe sip from one, looking supremely glamorous, but always felt they were too extravagant to buy for myself).
Later we drifted into the city centre for a browse of the food festival, & amazingly were able to exercise incredible restraint, instead heading to the cinema to sit in the back of the darkened screening room & be transported to a world of spies, secrecy & duplicity.
The day ended with a slow, scenic drive home, stopping to note the first signs of autumn.
Today I luxuriated in a 3 hour bath (yes really!) soaking myself in lotions & potions, & right now i’m cuddled up on the sofa in front of a cheesy 80s movie, contemplating my first ever attempt this evening at Yorkshire puddings. The weekend. Just as it should be.
